Candied Orange Slices Dipped In Milk Chocolate

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 large seedless navel oranges

  • 2 cups granulated sugar

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips

METHOD:

  1.  Wash the oranges thoroughly and slice them into thin rounds, about half a centimetre thick.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar is completely dissolved.
  3. Carefully add the orange slices to the sugar syrup, making sure they are in a single layer. Simmer the oranges in the syrup for about 45-60 minutes, or until the peels become translucent. Be careful not to let the syrup boil vigorously as this can cause the slices to break apart.
  4. Once the orange slices are candied, remove them from the syrup using a fork or slotted spoon, and place them on a wire rack to cool and dry for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
  5. In a small microwave-safe bowl, melt the milk chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth and completely melted.
  6. Dip half of each candied orange slice into the melted chocolate, allowing any excess to drip off. Place the dipped slices on a lined baking sheet.
  7. Let the chocolate set at room temperature or place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes to speed up the process.
  8. Once the chocolate is set, your slices are ready to be enjoyed! Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.

This will make roughly 15-20 slices, dependent on the size of your oranges.
